MS Asbjørn Selsbane was completed in 2013 and is one of Norway's most versatile coastal fishing vessels. The catch taken on board, pelagic or whitefish, can be stored fresh, frozen or live (cod). A combination of these storage methods is also possible.

When building MS Asbjørn Selsbane, the shipyard together with the vessel owner came up with environmentally friendly solutions. Among other things, we have installed a hybrid propulsion system. This enables us to use the main engine and auxiliary engines in different combinations to optimize and minimize fuel consumption. The propeller gearbox has two gear ratios, depending on the desired propeller performance. The hybrid propulsion system is designed for an optimal propeller system from 300 - 2500 kW.

By running the boat on the auxiliary engines, NOx emissions will be significantly reduced. For the future, the electrical system is rigged to be able to be connected to new energy sources such as generators, batteries or fuel cells.

All four of the ship's diesel engines are connected to a heat recovery system.

The heat from the heat recovery system is used to heat the ship using radiators, as well as for hot water consumption and standby heat on the main engine. This means that the main engine's cooling water and lubricating oil are always heated, which helps ensure that the hybrid propulsion system is ready for full performance at short notice.

In addition, the boat's circulation pumps, RSW cooling system and freezer are controlled by frequency-controlled electric motors, and all interior and exterior lights are LED lights.

MS Stødig is a new state-of-the-art vessel of 39.30 meters equipped for danish seine, trawl and crab fishing. The vessel was delivered by Karstensens Skibsværft A/S in May 2023 with all the latest machinery and equipment. The new vessel will replace the previous boat "Stødig" which was sold in 2020. The vessel is equipped for catching whitefish, shrimp and snow crab. In addition, the vessel will also be equipped for offshore fishing of calanus finmarchicus.

The vessel is equipped with tanks for live fish, and most of the whitefish will be delivered fresh in iTubs/tubs. The factory has freezing facilities, primarily for haddock, shrimp, crab and calanus finmarchicus. The vessel owners are very pleased with yet another collaboration with Karstensens Skibsværft, which also designed and built the coastal boat "Asbjørn Selsbane" with its many innovative solutions in 2013. At Karstensen, the vessel owners have had a boat built according to their own requirements and wishes with special expertise from the shipyard in design and process.

The new vessel is designed to optimize operations together with "MS Asbjørn Selsbane", and the two vessels will complement each other and provide better utilization of the company's quotas. The company's focus during the construction period has been on quality, innovation and reliability.

The vessel is equipped with electric winches for more efficient operation and minimum environmental impact. The propulsion system is also designed to reduce the environmental impact as much as possible with a very large and slow-moving propeller.
